Community Comes Together in Glace Bay

As we entered the town of Glace Bay it was clear that pride in our Canadian Forces exists there in abundance, with dozens of vehicles and people on foot escorting the convoy parade style through the town, and dozens more lining the streets.

At a fundraising dinner the night before a military guest speaker remarked:

“ When I was a little boy the soldiers who marched up the street were my heroes, they are the guys that inspired me to become who I am today. And now my heroes are the men and women you see today proudly wearing the uniform in an effort to do what is right. “

It seemed that this sentiment of respect and appreciation was felt by everyone in the community, with Canadian flags or support our troops flags flying in almost every yard.

To see such consistent support within the community was truly inspiring and a great tribute to the 157 men and women depicted on the Portraits of Honour mural.
